Antibiotics And Pregnancy

Every woman dreams of happy pregnancy period when she is able to imagine her future baby, invent his/her name, etc. In fact pregnancy is not always the best period of life for a woman. It is often associated with certain difficulties which may appear.

Just for this purpose doctors suggest to respect all necessary rules during pregnancy. It will help future mother to avoid any possible health risks and therefore to born a healthy baby. It is recommended to sleep more, to eat more fruits and vegetables, to reduce the working hours, to spend more time at fresh air and to go info sport.

However, sometimes it's impossible to respect all these rules. Besides, there may be various factors which can influence the health condition of a pregnant woman: bad weather, for example. If a pregnant woman got a cold it may turn out into a serious problem. It is known that expecting women are forbidden to take almost any medications which can harm their unborn baby. Before taking a certain drug it is necessary to get in touch with a health care provider and receive a medical consultation.

There are cases in life when the involvement of certain drugs during pregnancy is obligatory. For example antibiotics may be prescribed in case of a serious inflammation which may represent a real threat for a fetus. However, the total course of treatment should be controlled by a physician and in case of any complications it is necessary to take all measures.
Of course it is not recommended to take any serious drugs during pregnancy period. But there are circumstances which don't depend on us. In critical situations antibiotics are a real help and thousand and thousands of saved lives all over the world are the direct confirmation of it.

Interesting Things About Amoxicillin

Amoxicillin belongs to a group of penicillin antibiotic. It is a moderate beta-lactam antibiotic, applied for the treatment of bacterial infections. It is absorbed easily and therefore it is widely prescribed by the doctors. It is available as a product of GlaxoSmithKline under the brand name -Amoxil.
Before starting the treatment with Amoxicillin it would probably be useful to know several facts about the drug:
  • Amoxicillin inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. The formula refered to as co-amoxiclav is a completely different drug containing Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid – a name approved by the United Kingdom. However, it is usually known by its proprietary name – Augmentin.
  • The medicine is commonly prescribed to women and children under the age of 8. It is usually available in the form of pills.
  • You should avoid taking Amoxicillin if you have ever had any allergic reactions to any type of penicillin or to a cephalosporin.
  • Consult with your doctor, in case there are any problems related to kidney or you suffer from infectious mononucleosis. Taking Amoxicillin in presence of such disorders may lead to a row of adverse side effects.
  • Amoxicillin refers to the FDA pregnancy category B drugs. So, if you are pregnant, or planning to get pregnant while taking Amoxicillin, it is strongly recommended to consult your health care provider immediately.
Remember that Amoxicillin is a rather strong antibiotic and if you are not sure in the correctness of your choice it is suggested to receive a valuable medical consultation before taking the medicine.

Paying High Prices for Antibiotics

Visiting the doctor can be a big expense for people, even when they have good health insurance but especially when they don't. Unfortunately, if you're sick and you think prescription drugs are the only way to get better, you may have to bite the bullet and see your physician (or at least visit a walk-in clinic). In some cases, antibiotics will help you heal quickly and without any lasting complications. This is very important if you have something like strep throat or certain types of pneumonia. The cost of medical care may hurt, but it will hurt a lot more to stay sick, miss time at work, and potentially wind up with something life threatening in the end.

If you are worried about how to afford your medical bills, the good news is that a lot of doctors take credit cards. Usually, they at least accept Visa and Mastercard, if not American Express and Discover, so if you have a card, you should be able to charge your co-pay or prescriptions as needed and pay the bills off over time. With any luck, health care reform will happen and we won't have to worry about these insurmountable bills in the future.
